Time to Chill
Matt Seinberg

I need to chill. It’s about trying to relax and have some time alone. I had two sick days I had to use or lose.

I decided to take these days off in the middle of the week. The kids are at school, and my wife is at work. These are days I can decompress and have some me time.

More than anything, I enjoy sleeping late. On days I go to work, I have to get up at 7:15, so sleeping late is 9:30 to me. I can have a nice leisurely breakfast, read the paper, take a shower and watch TV, be it a movie or stuff I have saved on the DVR.

My plan during these two days is to get some chores done around the house that I haven’t had the time for on regular days off. They include, but are not limited to the following; clean the front door, scrub the walls in the hallway, clean the medicine cabinet and vanity in the bathroom.

Although it may not sound like many things, each is fairly time consuming and chores not done in a long time. Let’s face facts, no one enjoys cleaning; it’s something that has to be done.

I went to the ophthalmologist because my optometrist said I had clogged tear ducts, along with a blocked puncta duct. Huh? My eyes have been tearing so much that they were red and irritated, so watery it was hard to see.

The ophthalmologist numbed the bottom lid, scrapped it and injected some solution that I tasted in my mouth. That told him it worked. That told me I was uncomfortable and had a bad taste.

The ophthalmologist also said my problems could be from allergies or something in the house. I just hope I’m not allergic to Daphne, our cat. I know I am allergic to mold and mildew, I cough like crazy.

When the bathroom needs cleaning, my wife must do it. I can’t use bleach. My throat and nose close up and I can’t catch my breath.

Then I had to take Michelle, my daughter, to the dermatologist to look at her acne. Being a teenager can be a wonderful thing, but not when you have pimples. I keep telling her that boys don’t like girls with pimples, but she doesn’t listen. That’s fine, as I don’t want those walking hormones around her anyway.

The dermatologist gave Michelle a prescription for tetracycline, which I remember taking as a teenager for my acne, along with some samples of soap and a cleanser. Since her Sweet 16 party is in 6 weeks, she wants her face to be nice and clear. I do, too, since she will look so much better in the pictures.

As I’m not a drinker, I won’t lay around all day having beer. What I will do is work on air checks and load music on my iPod. That can be a full day in itself!

Daphne just came by to say hello and give me a purr.

It’s almost time for dinner. The kids are making mashed potatoes and setting the table. I have to heat up the pulled pork and toast the buns. I like nothing better than hot buns.

Have a great week. Remember, its five o’clock somewhere. Thanks Jimmy!
